1. Finding your foundation

  1. Figure Out Your Skin Tone.
  2. Identify Your Undertones.
  3. Choose Your Shade.
  4. Pick a Coverage Level.
  5. Consider Your Skin Type.
  6. Seasonal Shades

If your skin is warm toned, look for a gold or yellow based foundation. If your skin is cool toned, find products with pink or blue bases.

2. Start contouring

Once you’ve applied your moisturiser, primer, foundation and eye make-up, it’s time to contour. Apply your darker contour product over the parts of your face you’d like to add depth to. A beginner-friendly method of cream contouring is to draw a ‘3’ shape on each side of the face as this will target the forehead, cheekbones and jawline. Cheek contour should always be applied at an angle from the ears down to the lips to lift the facial features. The higher you can go, the better.

3. Eyeshadow primer

While you can use eyeshadow without eye primer, once you use eye primer, you’ll never go back! It’s perfect for enhancing the color of your eyeshadow and allowing the colors you choose to be bold and beautiful. Eyeshadow primer creates a slightly tacky base that grips the eyeshadow for longer-lasting, smoother wear with less creasing and fading.

4. Gel eyeshadow stick vs. Powder

Advantages: Gel eyeshadow sticks are usually retractable, travel friendly and provides easy application.

  • Long-lasting: Gel eyeshadows have a good staying power and are less likely to crease or smudge compared to cream shadows.
  • Pigmented: Gel eyeshadows tend to be highly pigmented, providing intense, opaque color.
  • Versatile: Gel eyeshadows can be used to create a variety of looks, from a subtle wash of color to a bold, dramatic look.
  • Easy to blend: Gel eyeshadows can be easy to blend, providing a seamless, natural look.

Advantages: Powder eyeshadow is great for the experienced makeup guru.

  • Long-lasting: Powder eyeshadows are less likely to smudge.
  • Colors: Available in a wide range of colors and finishes.
  • Versatile: Powder eyeshadows can be used dry or wet, providing a range of intensity options.
  • Easy to blend: Some experience is needed/good when applying multiple colors.

Conclusion

What’s great, overall? Everything can be purchased online. What makes things hard? You need to know how to pick what you want and how to use it. Watch Lisa Pippen and learn from one of the best I have seen. Don’t take my word for it, check out her videos (IG: lisap_beautee).
